1999-2001 Audi A4, A6, A8, TT and Cabriolet recalled with Takata airbag failure


Failure could cause low-impact airbags to inflate, according to the recall notice.

Audi he recalled 1624 examples of his A4, A6, A8, TT, And Convertible vehicles, citing a potential failure of the Takata airbag.

Affected vehicles are stamped Model Years 1999-2001.

The recall notice, filed with the Department of Infrastructure, states: “The propellant in the gas generator of the Takata NADI 5-AT airbag fitted to some 3-spoke steering wheel vehicles can degrade over time. As a result, the driver’s airbag can deploy with reduced strength.

“In the event of an accident, the deployment of the reduced force airbag could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
