This year’s IPL championship will be played in 6 different venues in India behind closed doors. There are certain rules and guidelines that the Indian government has enforced for the 2021 IPL season. Under those guidelines, only all IPL matches will be played. The locations where the IPL 2021 edition will take place are Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Delhi, Bangalore and Calcutta.

The qualifiers, the Eliminator and the final of the IPL 2021 edition will be played in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmadabad.

Here are some rules and guidelines that the Indian government has decided for the Indian Premier League aka IPL 2021:

The owners of families and franchises will be placed in Bubble

So this year’s IPL, like players from all teams, their family members and all franchise owners can only make use of Bio-secure Bubble if it is highly necessary. If they want to get out of the bubble, they must get approval from the BCCI Chief Medical Officer to get out of the bubble.

All team areas around the hotel are isolated

To be sure of the high security measure of all players on the team, BCCI has applied this rule that all teams should try to book the entire hotel for their players and all other staff. If this were not possible, the entire wing of the hotel would be assigned to the specific team and isolated for another group of people.

BCCI issued Bubble Integrity Manager

To prevent or ensure that all players on the team do not violate any bio-safe bubble rules, BCCI has involved a team of four members who are designated as the “Bubble Integrity Manager”. This team will assign to each team separately. This team makes sure that all team players and other staff have not violated any Bio-Secure Bubble rules.

Ball substitution rule

After much research around the world, cricket balls have been shown to have very little or almost no chance of transmitting the COVID virus. But to overlook any small margin of risk, the BCCI decided that if a ball were to go into the stands or outside the stadium area, then it would be replaced immediately. That replaced ball will be reused after sanitation.

Up to three RT-PCR teats needed for everyone

To enter a bio-safe bubble, anyone coming from another bubble will need to run three RT-PCR tests over a 7-day period. Only those people enter a new bubble that tests negative in all tests.

Several check-in desks

To ensure that all players and staff are kept away from any kind of damage, BCCI assigns them separate check-in desks at the hotel. This structure ensures that any player and staff do not contract with external elements.

No contact between BCCI official and players

As a member of the top-level BCCI panel, you will not be allowed to enter the IPL Biosafety Bubble. They are not allowed to come into contact with players or other officials who are part of Bio-Secure Bubble.

So there are some rules that the BCCI has issued for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
