The recently restyled Hyundai Tucson is an excellent small SUV. It has a style that sets it apart from the rest of the class, it also has excellent standard technology and now, according to a recent Announcement of the Insurance Institute for Road Safety, we also know that it is very safe.
In fact, the IIHS thinks enough of the 2022 Tucson that it awarded the SUV its coveted Top Safety Pick Plus award. This is an improvement over previous years thanks to Hyundai’s decision to make the standard Tucson headlights really good. It sounds minor, but.
Okay, good standard headlights are a must, but what else must a vehicle do to earn the TSP Plus award? For starters, they must score Good on all six IIHS crash tests, including the dreaded little overlap tests. They must also be available with a frontal crash prevention system that scores Advanced or Superior on vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests. The Tucson does all of this.
Aside from all its genuine safety, the Tucson also has an extremely comfortable ride, a radical-looking interior, and plenty of touch controls to make it feel extra-modern. The powertrain is a bit boring, but that’s no big deal in this segment.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is available now and starts at $ 26,135, including Hyundai’s $ 1,185 destination fee.
