The 2022 KTNS Zongshen RA2 will enter the Malaysian motorcycle market in January 2022, priced at RM 12,800 excluding road tax, insurance and registration. The recommended retail price includes a single seat, rear rear seat and crash bar package at no additional cost.
Hailing from the Zongshen Motor factory in Chongqing, China, the RA2 features a retro style with hints of the Harley-Davidson Sportster, complemented by a brown seat in keeping with the style much appreciated by the hipster crowd. Power is provided by a 250cc air-cooled single-cylinder mill, with a claimed output of 18hp and 18Nm of torque.
Braking occurs with front and rear single hydraulic discs – the front has a two-piston caliper while the rear features a single piston assembly – and two-channel ABS is standard. Meanwhile, the suspension uses conventional, non-adjustable telescopic front forks while the rear of the RA is supported by a pair of adjustable spring preload shock absorbers.
Inside the cockpit, a single round LCD display shows all the information you need, keeping things simple and essential. Meanwhile, LED lighting is used for the front and rear headlights, as well as for the turn signals.
Malaysian riders will be more familiar with the KTNS RX3 adventure touring bike, a small displacement similar to the BMW Motorrad GS. Asked if there would be a possibility of the 400cc Zongshen RE3 liquid-cooled two-cylinder naked sports bike entering the country, a representative from KTNS said: “No news yet, but if the 250cc RA2 is successful in Malaysia, then maybe it can be considered. “
