2022 Skoda Karoq facelift teased ahead of the November 30th reveal

Skoda previewed the exterior of its restyling Karoq Medium-sized SUV in the form of two design sketches.

Introduced in 2017 as the younger brother of the Kodiaq large SUV, the Karoq it is now the middle child in its local SUV range as it ranks above the Kamiq small suv.

Her midlife facelift is now scheduled to be revealed on November 30 during an online media presentation.

As reported last week, the updated Karoq will arrive in Australia next March.

The front of this restored Karoq shows a more distinctive front according to Skoda, with a wider grille and a redesigned air intake underneath.

Its headlights are now slimmer and extend all the way to the grille, which is complemented by a redesigned daytime running light signature that are now two separate units.

Just as before, the fog lamp unit is located directly under the main headlight and is of the LED type in the upper variant according to Skoda.

The rear three-quarter sketch anticipates the Karoq’s redesigned rear with a longer rear spoiler and a slightly modified rear apron with a black diffuser.

The taillights are also thinner and emphasize the vehicle’s width according to Skoda, but still retain the signature C-shaped taillight seen on the current model.

All these changes have been spied on earlier as there was a prototype that wore a camouflage covering the front and rear dashboards.

Although not confirmed, the revamped Karoq is expected to feature Skoda’s latest infotainment systems.

It is unclear if there will be any changes to the powertrain, but there are currently two powertrains available for the Australian-spec Karoq models.

Entry-level style models are powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which produces 110kW of power e 250 Nm of couple. All this is sent to the front wheels only through a automatic transmission with eight-speed torque converter.

Sportline models on the other hand are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which produces 140kW Other 320 Nm, put all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The price for the current model starts from $ 38,990 in the car for style, and extends to $ 45,990 in the car for the Sportline before optional packages are added.

A low-volume seller in the hotly contested mid-size SUV segment, Skoda Karoq 1430 models have been sold for the year to October 2021 according to VFACTS.

It has really been surpassed by the likes of Toyota RAV4 (30,933), Mazda CX-5 (22,030), Nissan X-Trail (11,634), Hyundai Tucson (11.608), and the Mitsubishi Outlander (11,597) in the same period.
