HOUSTON (AP) – A 9-year-old Dallas boy became the youngest person to die from his injuries during a wave of crowds at the Astroworld music festival in Houston.

Ezra Blount of Dallas died Sunday at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, family attorney Ben Crump said.

Ezra was put into a medically induced coma after sustaining severe injuries in the throng of fans on November 5 during a festival performance headliner, rapper Travis Scott.

He is the 10th person who attended the festival to die.

“The Blount family is mourning the incomprehensible loss of their precious son tonight,” Crump said in a press release Sunday night. “This shouldn’t have been the result of taking the son to a concert, what should have been a joyful celebration.”

Treston Blount, Ezra’s father, described what happened on November 5th in a post on a GoFundMe page he created to help pay for Ezra’s medical bills. He said Ezra was sitting on his shoulders when a wave of crowds crushed them. The father lost consciousness and when he recovered, Ezra was missing, Blount said. A frantic search ensued until Ezra was finally found in the hospital, seriously injured.

The child suffered severe brain, kidney and liver damage after being “kicked, trampled, trampled and nearly crushed to death”, according to a lawsuit filed by his family against Scott and the organizer of the event, Live Nation. The Blount family is demanding at least $ 1 million in damages.

The other dead were aged between 14 and 27 years. About 300 people were treated at the festival site and 13 were hospitalized.

Houston Police and Fire Department Investigators they said they’re reviewing the surveillance footage provided by the concert promoter Live Nation, as well as dozens of clips of people attending the show widely shared on social media. Investigators also planned to speak with Live Nation reps Scott and viewers. Scott and the organizers of the event I am now at the center of a criminal investigation.
