Lost dog. Gymnast Aly Raisman is asking fans in the Boston area to keep an eye out for his dog Mylo after he got away.
“To my fans in the seaport / Boston area … my dog Mylo was terrified of the fireworks and ran away,” he wrote via Instagram Sunday, July 4. “It has a tag and a strap. Please let me know if you see it. Thanks.”
Independence Day is a dangerous holiday for pets. Dogs especially are often startled by fireworks, which is why it’s a holiday where more pets are believed to disappear than at any other time of year, according to the American Kennel Club.
“I am very grateful for all your help and support!” The 27-year-old Olympian wrote to her fans before warning them not to look for her cub. “I have a favor to ask of you, please do not go out and actively search for Mylo. He’s terrified, and the folks at Missing Dogs Mass warned that we don’t have anyone yelling his name or running looking for him. The Massachusetts native rescued Mylo from a shelter in Rhode Island last year. “She was born on July 16, 2020. I’m so excited to be her mom,” she tweeted in October 2020. “I’ve already cried a few times because I feel so lucky. He is currently taking a nap on my chest. I can’t wait to meet him. “
