Anthony Davis injury update: will Lakers star lose any games?


In the Lakers’ defeat to the Thunder on Thursday, superstar Anthony Davis sustained a thumb injury.

Davis was injured towards halftime while chasing an offensive rebound.

His right hand made contact with the arm of thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Davis suffered visible pain. He was not on the pitch to start the third quarter, but returned to play a few minutes after the start of the second half with a bandage on his right hand.

It was later announced that Davis had a sprained right thumb.

Davis ended the game with 29 points, including 18 in the first half. He also took 18 rebounds and gave out five assists.

The next game on the Lakers calendar is Saturday, November 6 against the Trail Blazers in Portland. In his post-match presser, Davis said his thumb is “fine”, adding “we’ll see how it feels“when asked about his availability for Saturday’s match.

In nine games this season, Davis has averaged 25.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 blocks with 50.8% of shots from the field.

The Lakers stand at 5-4 after the defeat to the Thunder, putting them in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

In addition to Davis’ availability in the air, the Lakers will be without LeBron James against the Trail Blazers. Prior to their encounter with the Thunder, it was revealed that James should miss at least a week due to an abdominal strain.

After the game against the Trail Blazers, the Lakers return to Los Angeles for a five-game home game.
