Oakland Athletics First baseman Matt Olson wants to celebrate his first stellar appearance in style.
Olson took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce that he will compete in next Monday’s Home Run Derby at Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies:
According to the MLB website, Olson will attempt to become the third player in franchise history to win the Derby. Mark McGwire accomplished the feat in 1992, and Yoenis Céspedes went back to back in 2013 and 2014.
For ESPN Statistics, Olson is currently tied for ninth in the league with 20 home runs, and he is 12th overall with a .552 slugging percentage.
