2023 Corvette Z06 is a result of cutting-edge engineering

Hail The King: The 2023 Corvette Z06 is a flagship engineering achievement for Chevrolet

(by Tom Lohnes) – Since the creation of the model in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette has always focused on two things: performance and driving pleasure. In 2001, the ZO6 nameplate was revived, offering buyers a warmer Corvette with some better equipment and numbers to spend a little more money. That name has evolved so much that the latest generation car had 650 horsepower and a 7-speed manual. But all of that has passed, and now we have this beast. Meet the Corvette ZO6 of 2023.

Powered by the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever fitted to a production car, the ZO6’s new 5.5-liter DOHC V8 uses a flat-deck crankshaft to generate 670hp at an incredible 8,400rpm. Redline is 8,600, so you really need to crank up the RPM of this thing to get maximum potential. Power passes exclusively through an 8-speed DCT to some absolutely massive 345-section rear tires when equipped with the ZO7 performance package. Oh. Combine the Countach-sized tires and the absolutely insane engine and this thing can hit 60 in a claimed 2.6 seconds, all sounding like a Ferrari 458 with a sore throat. This Corvette is another legitimate supercar in a line of them.

In terms of looks, the ZO6 gets a more open front fascia than the base Stingray to let in more air, and the controversial rear exhaust tips have been moved to the center to create a rather menacing looking rear. The non-ZO7 gets a slightly larger rear spoiler than the standard Stingray with the Z51 package and somewhat nicer factory wheels. That’s it though. Upgrade to the ZO7 and you get extremely aggressive aerodynamics that have been shown to produce 734 pounds of downforce at 186 mph and a slightly lower ride height. The ZO7 cars also have some really cool carbon fiber wheels.

So, this is the new ZO6. It is extremely difficult to believe that this car is from Kentucky. Hovering around the Porsche 911 GT3 / GT3RS, the new ZO6 is said to start at around $ 90,000. If so, you have the deal of the century. The best part? This isn’t even the top-notch Corvette. The ZR1 and the alleged Zora are yet to arrive.
