Amy Schumer has offered her opinion on Warner Bros. Barbie years after leaving a different version of the film at Sony, also joking about the role in Uni’s oppenheimer which he should have played, after being among the many who attended the double feature of ‘Barbenheimer’ over the weekend.
“I really enjoyed Barbie and Oppenheimer, but I think I should have played Emily Blunts (oppenheimer) role,” Schumer wrote in a post on Instagram. “Make it better Hollywood.”
years before Barbie teamed up at Warner Bros., with Greta Gerwig as co-writer/director and Margot Robbie as the iconic Mattel doll, Schumer closed a deal for a live-action film Barbie characteristic that had June‘s Diablo Cody among those working on the script.
In a recent interview with Andy Cohen on See what happens live, Schumer explained what was the root of his departure. “They said she was too skinny,” the actress and comedian joked. “I can’t wait to see the movie (from Warner Bros.). I think it looks amazing.”
Schumer added that while their departure was originally blamed on “scheduling conflicts”, it was actually about “creative differences”. she said before seeing Barbie that the take on this “new crew” struck her as “very feminist and cool”, while also suggesting that the film, as it stood when she was to star, lacked these qualities.
as for oppenheimer, the role Schumer is referring to is that of Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, the wife of the theoretical physicist at the heart of Christopher Nolan’s story, played by Cillian Murphy. Others appearing on the set alongside the duo include Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh, to name just a few.
Barbie recently proved a landmark success, garnering the biggest opening weekend ever for a film directed by a woman grossing $162 million, as oppenheimer grossed an impressive $82 million+.
Schumer released his third Netflix special Emergency contact on June 13 and will next appear in Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut. no frost for the same streamer, among other projects.
