One month after Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14 last year, his ex-partner Rhea Chakraborty was accused by the late star’s family of pushing him to his death. What followed was a highly public investigation into Sushant’s death involving the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), who arrested Rhea in September for allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant and paying for it. Almost a month later, the Bombay High Court granted Rhea bail.

Mane netizens accused Rhea Chakraborty and her family for the death of Sushant Singh. But many Bollywood celebrities came in support of Rhea.

1. Soni Razdan

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s wife, Soni Razdan, recently responded to a tweet in support of Rhea. He wrote: Her going to jail has clearly exposed only the people who sent her there and has shown that she was an innocent victim of a very twisted design. Why no one works with her? 2. Shibani Dandekar

Shibani was the first to come out in support of Rhea. The two have been friends for more than 12 years. Rhea’s slogan ‘crush the patriarchy’ went viral almost immediately after the arrest with top Bollywood stars including Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Apte, Radhika Madan, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, Huma Qureshi and many others sharing the quote and demanding justice for Rhea. It was perhaps the first time India has witnessed leading Bollywood actresses show solidarity with one of their own and oppose the media judgment.

Not only the leading women of Bollywood, but also the guys spoke. Actors Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Pulkit Samrat and Vijay Varma were among the prominent names speaking out against the wrongful arrest of Rhea Chakraborty.

Rhea Chakraborty is currently trying to return to her normal life. She and her brother Showik Chakraborty were seen house hunting earlier this month.
