Star Wars fans who are also Disney + subscribers have a lot to look forward to in April. The streaming service recently revealed the list of titles that will debut next month, and while it’s not surprising to see Star Wars on the list, the specific selections are noteworthy. Additions not only include the original Star Wars: Clone Wars 2003 animated series, but we also have Ewok movies and a particularly important part of the Star Wars holiday special. That is, the animated short that served as the introduction of Boba Fett.
All these star Wars The rarities are coming to Disney + on April 2. These relics from the past will finally be available on a major streaming service for fans to check out. Or, in many cases, certain fans may get a chance to see them for the first time. And probably better quality versions of these shows and movies than are currently available elsewhere.
Although not considered canon, two made-for-TV movies focused on the Ewoks, whom we met in Return of the Jedi, were produced. 1984’s Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure was the first. It was followed by a sequel, Ewoks: The Battle Of Endor, 1985. Both films have long been forgotten by Lucasfilm. For the most part, they were only available to those who still had VHS copies of their day. Not only are the movies coming to Disney +, but the two-season animated series as well. Star Wars: Ewoks from 1985 it will also be broadcast.
Next we have Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars animated shorts. The 2D series debuted in 2003 and took place during the height of the Clone Wars, as did the CGI series that arrived in 2008. These shorts have been highly regarded since their debut. However, they are not currently available on a major streaming service. That makes the addition important, especially as it will provide a way for new fans to discover them.
The most surprising addition is an animated short called The story of the faithful Wookiee. It was originally included as part of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, which aired only once in 1978. It was so bad that George Lucas did everything he could to erase it from existence. But pirated copies of it have been in circulation over the years. However, this animated short has significance as bounty hunter Boba Fett, who later appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, made his debut in animated form Given his status as one of the most popular characters in the franchise, he is an important piece of Star Wars history.
The mandalorian helped cement Disney + as a huge hit in the streaming game. As a result, various spin-offs and new programs are being developed, including The Boba Fett Book, which arrives in December. With that being the case, it appears Disney is opening the vaults of Lucasfilm to offer fans easy access to this once-rare content. These Star Wars titles will be available on April 2 at the Disney + streaming app.
