BT launches hub to help small businesses create and run ads online

BT has launched a digital advertising platform to make it easier for small businesses to manage their digital marketing campaigns.

BT’s Digital Marketing Hub gives SMBs the tools and support to create, publish and track their digital advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram. Businesses can create ads and run multi-channel marketing campaigns with the results fed into a single analytics dashboard.

The launch follows a survey by Small Business Britain, in partnership with BT, which found that 74% of small businesses have increased their use of social media to promote their business online. BT also found that 40% of UK SMEs in the UK do not use paid digital media advertising.

Developed with feedback from over 1,500 companies, the hub was designed to help those who often lack the time, resources, trust or skills to launch or enhance their digital advertising campaigns.

Artificial intelligence is used to advise on the best keywords, ad copy and media spend to include in campaigns. There is also the possibility of creating a tailor-made web page to target potential customers.

The platform is charged to businesses via a service fee, which is applied to each campaign on a pay-as-you-go basis. BT has also created a team to provide an optionally managed service as part of a pay-as-you-go offering, with a choice of “Essential” or “Premium” tiers.

Chris Sims, managing director of BT for its SoHo unit (single / small office, home office), said, “This is a pivotal time for small businesses across the country, after a really tough couple of years. Businesses are the backbone of the UK economy, so it is vital that they are equipped with the digital tools and support they need to help their business reach new heights.

“They can reach a much larger audience using the power of digital advertising, but many lack the time, money and trust to do so effectively. Our new digital marketing hub is designed to give small businesses the peace of mind. that their online advertising campaigns are reaching the right customers, in the right place, at the right time. “

BT is taking a phased approach to platform development, with additional features including increased AI optimization capabilities and e-commerce capabilities planned for next release.
