Seven Cambodian workers died after drinking alcohol that was given to them as a disinfectant in a coronavirus quarantine camp.
They had returned to the country from Thailand and were placed in a camp in the northwestern province of Banteay Meanchey.
Cambodia’s health ministry said the alcohol was mixed with water and soft drinks.
Twelve others were taken to the hospital complaining of breathing problems, headaches and dizziness after drinking the mixture on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The samples were taken to a laboratory in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh for analysis.
