TOKYO – Canadian gymnast Ellie Black will compete in Tuesday’s balance beam final, the Canadian Olympic Committee confirmed Monday.
Black withdrew from last Thursday’s women’s full final after spraining her left ankle during training.
He said at the time that he hoped to recover in time for the final beam.
Earlier, American gymnast Simone Biles said she would compete in the rafter finals. Biles had withdrawn from the women’s team final and the full final to focus on her mental health.
Black, a 25-year-old from Halifax, is competing in her third Olympics.
He won silver in general competition at the 2017 Montreal World Championships and gold at the 2015 Pan American Games event in Toronto and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.
