Canadian Sport Institute Pacific and Backcountry Brewing Announce First Beer Collaboration – Canadian Sport Institute Pacific – News Block

November 22, 2022 – Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific) is proud to announce the launch of its first collaborative beer: Locker Room Lager, brewed by Backcountry Brewing in Squamish, BC.

Touted as “like a macro beer that actually tastes good,” Locker Room Lager is a soccer-themed beer, riding the wave of excitement across Canada ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off later this month.

“Partnering on a soccer-themed beer was a natural match, as CSI Pacific staff worked closely with the men’s team heading to Qatar,” said CSI Pacific CEO Wendy Pattenden. “We are thrilled to partner with Backcountry Brewing to find a way to celebrate the work that CSI Pacific staff have done to support the men on their journey to the World Cup.”

CSI Pacific has supported the men’s team through physiology, strength and conditioning, and sports nutrition throughout their qualification process and in training camps around the world. The team will be joined in Qatar by CSI Pacific sports scientist Dr. Cesar Meylan, who was Own The Podium’s Sports Scientist of the Year in 2021 for his work with Canada Soccer.

As part of the celebration, Backcountry Brewing will be hosting a viewing party in their tap room for Canada’s World Cup opener, when they take on world number 2 Belgium at 11am.

Locker Room Lager will launch on Wednesday, November 23, and in stores from Wednesday, November 30.

This is the first collaboration between CSI Pacific and Backcountry Brewing.
