MANILA, Philippines – Carlos Yulo secured a spot in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Show Jumping Final of the Tokyo Olympics at the Ariake Gymnastics Center in Japan.
Yulo stayed in the race for a medal in Tokyo after he placed sixth in the jump with a score of 14,712 in qualifying on Saturday.
The top eight athletes from each apparatus advance to the medal round.

However, 21-year-old Yulo failed to reach the final of the floor exercise where he is considered one of the top gold bets after ruling the same event at the 2019 world championships.
Yulo was visibly upset after scoring just 13,566 in his favorite event, where he managed to finish his routine strong after a shaky start.
The men’s jump final is August 2.
