By Tim Burton Addams Family derived series, Wednesday, he’s doing some eccentric casting announcements lately. A screaming telegram just crossed my desk and has alerted me to the fact that Catherine Zeta-Jones will be playing Morticia Addams on the new Netflix show. This terrifying news comes shortly after learning that Luis Guzmán will play Gomez Addams.
The spooky and eccentric live-action series is an intriguing, supernaturally infused mystery that chronicles Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master his emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous murder spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that involved his parents 25 years ago, all while navigating their new and highly tangled relationships in Nevermore. . Jenna Ortega (The Nanny: Killer Queen, Scream, Yes day) will play black-haired torturer brother, Wednesday Addams.

The coming-of-age comedy tale received an 8-episode order in February with Tim Burton serving as direct and executive producer. Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville, In the badlands) will serve as showrunners, with Steve Stark (half, The event), Andrew Mittman for 1.21 (The Addams family, Alphas), Kevin Miserocchi (Tee and Charles Addams Foundation), Kayla Alpert (Black code, I wake up all night), Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania (I RESPECT, Addams Family 2) and Gail Berman (The Addams family, Alphas) executive producer as well.
Zeta-Jones is the latest actress to take on the iconic role after Anjelica Huston, Charlize Theron, Daryl Hannah and Carolyn Jones.
While Burton has been hit or miss for me in recent years, I must admit I’m excited to see his take on The Addams family. The Addams were an important part of my childhood with the Munsters. Both families represent a sense of self pride and freedom that I aspire to, and the stage for any Addams Famly project are always a sight to behold. I hope Burton delves into this series and shows the world that he is still capable of getting creepy, crazy, and of course, ooky.
