Championship Club Cardiff City interested in Ejuke – News Block

Championship club Cardiff City are interested in Super Eagles striker Chidera Ejuke.

According to WalesOnline reporter Glen Williams, Cardiff are believed to be “hard at work” on a deal for CSKA Moscow winger Ejuke on a one-year temporary deal.

Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, FIFA has given the country’s players leeway, many of whom have had their contracts suspended or terminated.

And Cardiff hope that Ejuke, who suspended his own contract at current club CSKA Moscow to join Hertha Berlin last summer, can be acquired by these means given the current state of transfers.

The Welsh side are still currently under a transfer embargo following the lengthy court case with French side Nantes regarding the payment of the late Argentine Emiliano Sala.

Also, while they did manage to overturn an initial three-window ban in one that is due to be lifted in January, as it stands they still cannot manage the fees on potential transfers.

Ejuke joined Norwegian team Valerenga in March 2017, where he scored 14 times in 65 outings to attract suitors elsewhere.

Heerenveen called two years later and Ejuke lit up the Eredivisie in his only season with the club by scoring nine goals and providing four assists.

That form earned him a trade to CSKA Moscow with 10 goals and eight assists in just over 60 appearances.

However, Ejuke’s spell with Hertha Berlin did not go as planned as they were relegated.
