College basketball media reacts to Duke’s victory over Kentucky in the Champions Classic

Duke’s basketball scored a big Champions Classic win over Kentucky and the college basketball media loved the action.

The Champions Classic finale on Tuesday night promised to be fantastic to kick off the 2021-22 college basketball season with the No. Duke Blue Devils 9 in the standings fixing the n. Kentucky Wildcats ranked 10, the first game in what will be Coach K’s final season with the first.

Although he was hard-fought both halves, it was Duke who eventually pulled back with the 79-71 win. They led great performances from their star freshman, Trevor Keels and Paolo Banchero, who combined by 47 points, to the big win. Kentucky held its own, however, which was in doubt after a shaky show against Miles College.

Yet it is the Blue Devils to score the victory over John Calipari’s team. But after the fight, the college basketball media were simply blown away by what they saw on the floor at Madison Square Garden.

Duke’s Basketball Beats Kentucky: College Basketball Media Reactions

The general consensus, although not unanimous, seems to be that both Duke and Kentucky showed well on Tuesday night at the Champions Classic and have brilliant seasons ahead.

It is difficult to argue even about this. The Wildcats are clearly still doing well, but being with a team as talented as the Blue Devils for 40 minutes and never really getting out speaks well of Calipari’s side. And as for the talented counterparts, the Coach K Farewell Tour looks like it will be all right with this group on the floor.
