Today brings a new trailer for the upcoming creature feature. Dawn of the beast And it comes from the folks at Uncork’d Entertainment. For so many years that Bigfoot has been a predominant figure in pop culture, we have yet to get a really great, studio-produced feature on the creature. But low-budget entries keep popping up from time to time, trying to effectively bring the beast to life. In this case, Bigfoot will face another mythological creature, namely the Wendigo. This is a two-for-one deal in that regard. As we can see from the trailer, the filmmakers are trying to achieve a lot with relatively little financial resources at their disposal.
The trailer opens with a woman trying on a necklace that looks quite amateurish. We then see a man who has what he thought would be peaceful smoke erupting in the woods at night. But a strange creature makes a disconcerting noise in the distance and it isn’t long before said creature interrupts your pleasant evening. Then we move on to a group of students who are studying, above all, cryptozoology.
Among them there are skeptics, but believers who live near the forest. As you might guess, the believers were right and there is more than one threat lurking among the trees. When it comes to these things, it seems impressive enough at times, given the apparent budget constraints. The big question is whether or not they can put all the pieces together and turn this into an entertaining movie.
The film is directed by Bruce Wemple (Monstrous, Altered Hours), based on a script by Anna Shields (Little bi peep, Monstrous). Shields also stars alongside Adrian Burke (Younger, Mia and the vase), Ariella Mastroianni (A message for James, White noise), Chris Cimperman (Sofa world, Dangerous medicine) and Grant Schumacher (Retirement, Emergence).
In Dawn of the beastIn hopes of seeing Bigfoot, a group of students ventured into an area of the northeastern desert that is known for its strange sightings of creatures. It is not long before they learn that there is a much more sinister evil lurking in the forest; the Wendigo. Once the spirit knows you are there, they will come for you. The film seeks to answer the question of who will survive in a battle between the two most notorious monsters in the forest.
We are still a few months away from things reaching relative normality. Hopefully, studios will start releasing more movies in theaters as it becomes safer to do so. Meanwhile, we still have what is available on streaming services, or through digital offerings, for the most part. Those seeking to fill the creature’s feature void, after consuming Godzilla vs. Kong I mean, I could possibly come back here to meet that need. Dawn of the beast premieres on DVD and digital April 6 from Uncork’d Entertainment. Make sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
