MANILA, Philippines – Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has warned Errol Spence to be wary of Manny Pacquiao in his upcoming welterweight title fight in August.
In an interview with ES News, De La Hoya warned Spence about Pacquiao’s jerky movements and the Filipino icon’s gestures before launching a blast.
“I love that fight, it’s a great matchup and I think Spence is a great fighter,” De La Hoya said. “As good as it is, I think Spence should be careful.”
De La Hoya then mimicked Pacquiao’s mannerism of kicking his feet and flinging his hands into the air that precedes a barrage of punches.
“I don’t know why no one has noticed that he does this and pulls and has those fat calves. Spence has to be careful with that, ”said De La Hoya, who lost to Pacquiao in 2008 in what became the last game of his illustrious career.
LOTS OF EARNINGS
While De La Hoya, a legend who won titles in six weight classes, didn’t exactly predict a winner, former UFC champion Henry Cejudo did.
Cejudo, who won the UFC bantamweight and flyweight belts, said Pacquiao could snatch the IBF and WBC titles from Spence.
“I think Manny is going to win it,” Cejudo said.
