Delta, Latam add more than 20 codeshare routes

Delta Air Lines and Latam Airlines Group will jointly share the code on more than 20 international routes between the United States and South America and will expand connections to domestic and regional destinations, the companies announced Monday.

Delta is adding its code to 12 international routes operated by Latam between cities in South America and the United States, including Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, and Orlando. The US carrier is also adding its code to six South American interregional routes and four new domestic destinations in Chile.

Latam is inputting its code on eight Delta-operated international routes between South America and the United States, including from Atlanta and JFK of New York. The agreement allows connections to more than 40 domestic codeshare destinations in South America, the regional network and the South American-US international routes operated by Delta and Latam. In addition, according to the companies, it allows access to more than 70 domestic US routes operated by Delta.

The expansion will take effect in the “next few months”.

The new codeshares are the result of the strategic partnership between Delta and Latam announced in September 2019, And recently approved by Chilean antitrust regulators. Latam is also suffering restructuring under Chapter 11 protection and is expected to present its reorganization plan on November 26.
