The Jacksonville Jaguars are definitely of interest to many soccer fans, but not necessarily because great things are expected of them in 2021. Wide receiver DJ Chark seems to feel that the higher expectations might be justified.
Chark suggested that new coach Urban Meyer and the Jags’ new recruits would turn things around quickly in Jacksonville thanks to their experience in “winning shows.” He also added that he felt the Jaguars were going to “surprise a lot of people” in 2021.
“Just to go out and compete, to be better than we were last year,” Chark told the NFL Network’s Omar Ruiz on “NFL Total Access” on Friday. via Jelani Scott of NFL.com. “Season 1-15 is in a place we don’t want to go back to. Everyone here understands it. The guys that came in came from a lot of winning shows, so we’re trying to develop that winning culture and just that camaraderie here and I think we’re going to do really well. I think we are going to surprise a lot of people. I’m not one of the people who’s great at setting record goals or anything like that, or saying how many wins or losses we’re going to have, but we’re going to be an exciting soccer team, for sure. “
Many NFL fans will keep an eye out for the Jaguars due to Meyer’s presence, as well as top draft players Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne. There’s also Tim Tebow, though That intrigue may not last long.
Still, while some improvement is expected, the big strides Chark seems to be hinting at would definitely come as a surprise. There is definitely an expectation that there will be some growing pains for people like Lawrence, even as polished as he is. Also, some are skeptical that Meyer is a success in the NFL. Even the containment of the Jaguars would be a surprise in 2021.
