Drake continues to prepare for his home and has partnered with Live Nation Canada for a new 2,500-seat venue titled History. The venue is scheduled to open in late 2021.
After the announcement, Drake took to Instagram and detailed his vision and goal.
“When I was younger in Toronto, the biggest goal in the world for me was to get a crisp Iceberg or Girbaud from Jaydees Connections with @goldoildiamonds and try to get into this legendary party called History Dance,” he said. “I never made it, but I always heard all about it in the days that followed.”
He continued: “Now, thanks to this partnership with @michaelrapino, artists from all over the world can come to Toronto and make their own story. See you in CASE 21 @historytoronto “.
“Some of my most memorable shows were in smaller venues like History,” Drake said in a press release. “I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”
Live Nation Chairman and CEO Michael Rapino added: “We saw the opportunity to bring a great new place to Toronto, and we have so much gratitude and respect that Drake has joined us in bringing it to life in the best way possible.” .
