Continuing the Ducati season that gave us new models, on Thursday a couple of new Streetfighter models came down from the new bike tree. At the bottom of the range is $ 16,995 Panigale V2, and now on top of the nameplate are the new carbon wheels and 208 horsesepower Streetfighter V4 SP that will earn you $ 35,500. One of them looks like a bargain. Let’s dig deeper to find out which one.

If Ducati’s legendary Monster isn’t aggressive enough for you, then you might want to upgrade to the Streetfighter V2. While it weighs around 26 pounds more than the Monster (392 pounds vs 366), the V2 makes a whopping 39 more horsepower to compensate with even 150 horsepower and 75 Nm of torque on tap. Considering this is the entry into the Streetfighter lineup, he’s pretty damn strong enough.

Basically the same bike under the Panigale V2, the Streetfighter V2 does away with the plastic fairings, but somehow still weighs a few extra pounds. However, the Streetfighter gets a more aggressive final drive to increase torque at low revs and there are softer, more road-friendly brake pads. It goes without saying that the Panigale V2 would be faster on the track, but we both know you’ll never take your bike to the track anyway, so why not get the Streetfighter instead?

If the four-cylinder Streetfighter V4 wasn’t fast enough for you, however, there’s now a top-of-the-line SP model to get your blood pumping. With carbon fiber wheels and a few other lightweight slats, it drops about 6 pounds from the standard V4 S. The SP also gets a number of Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 shock absorbers that automatically adapt to your driving style. The rest of the package is pretty much designer stuff with single-seater seats, a “winter test” livery and revised rear fender., but you do you get custom CNC adjustable foot pegs, an SBK dry clutch, larger Brembo Stylema R fromt pliers, a carbon front guard and a lithium battery.

The V4 The SP engine is the exact same 1103cc mill as found in the V4 S, which means it pumps 208 horsepower and 90 foot-pounds of torque. There’s not much to explain the bike’s $ 10,000 surcharge over the standard S, as it’s only six point six pounds lighter and looks slightly different. If you absolutely must have the best performance on the track, you are probably buying a Panigale anyway, aren’t you? So who is this for?

Either way, both bikes are expected to show up in dealership showrooms around February next year, so if you want one you should probably order now.
