Things are about to go crazy.
The scene from the end credits of the fourth episode of Loki could have shown a mind-blowing twist.
THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MAIN SPOILERS FOR LOKI.
While the isolated nature of episode three may have been a turnoff for some fans, Marvel Studios ‘episode four’ Loki up the ante a bit. One of the most emotional and action-packed episodes of the show, the fourth episode primarily focused on Loki falling in love with Sylvie and trying to express his feelings. Of course, the Time-Variant Authority screwed up those plans, killing Tom Hiddleston’s version of the character as the episode began to wrap up.
Nuked from Sacred Timeline, it was presumed that Loki would remain dead and that Sylvie would take over as the series’ main protagonist, which would be a pretty daring move. However, if you stayed in the end credits scene, you will know that Hiddleston’s version of the character is still very much alive and has new friends. Loki wakes up in a gloomy city, full of rubble and wonders if he is dead and if he landed in Hell. Richard E. Grant’s voice rises forward, telling Hiddleston’s character that he will die if he does not join them.
When he gets up, Loki stands before three figures: Richard E. Grant, who is dressed in classic Loki outfits, a young Loki, and another variation of the character that appears to have a modified Mjolnir. Because Loki is not dead, it confirms that the TVA cannot completely erase people from the timelines, but instead send them to purgatory to live the rest of their days. Of course, the TVA might still have permanent removal up its sleeve, but Loki clearly wasn’t a threat to justify it.
