England advanced to the quarterfinals in Euro 2020 after a memorable 2-0 win over Germany at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.

The victory was historic for England, since it was the first time they had defeated Germany in the knockout phase of a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup final.

This 55-year period had seen a series of heartbreaking victories for England against Germany, such as the defeat in the semifinal phase on penalties of both the 1990 World Cup and the 1996 European Championship.

It was after the previous defeat that then …England striker Gary Lineker summed up his nation’s frustration at not being able to defeat Germany.

“Soccer is a simple game: 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes, and in the end the Germans always win.” Lineker saying.

However, after England put an end to this sterile run on Tuesday, Lineker He stated that he believes it is time to end that sentence.

“I think it is time for the phrase ‘Germans always win’ to put to sleep. Rest in peace,” he added. Lineker tweeted.

EnglandTuesday night’s goals were captured by Raheem Sterling other Harry Kane.
