Fantasy TE PPR Rankings Week 9: Who to start, sit at the end in fantasy football

Few positions are as frustrating as the tight end and weeks of waiting make it even harder to find reliable beginners and legitimate sleepers. This is especially true this week, but don’t worry – our week 9 fantasy TE PPR rankings can help you figure out who to start with in this aggravating position.

Fortunately, we can welcome back Mark Andrew (vs. Vikings) and Darren Waller (@ Giants) and temporarily say goodbye to Ricky Seals-Jones, TJ Hockenson and Rob Gronkowski. We could also welcome back George Kittle (calf), which would really bolster the ranking.

We know guys like Dalton Schultz (vs. Broncos) and Kyle Pitts (@ Saints) have emerged as must-haves, but it’s worth noting that their matchups are some of the toughest of the week. Pitts’ lead is too high to ever be on the bench, and Schultz’s high PPR floor is well established.

As we review streaming options this week, Tyler Conklin (@ Ravens), Jared Cook (@ Eagles), Pat Freiermith (vs. Bears), and CJ Uzomah (@ Browns) are all worth considering. Freiermuth doesn’t necessarily have a big matchup, but he took the role of JuJu Smith-Schuster in the Pittsburgh slot. This makes it an attractive PPR product for the future. Uzomah’s matchup isn’t spectacular either, but his overall TE1 upside is bringing him closer to an option not to be missed. At the very least, it’s a week-to-week streaming option.

Conklin and Cook actually have favorable pairings and are both related to skilled passersby. Evan Engram (against the Raiders) always looks like a solid game due to his share of consistent goals, but it’s worth noting that he’s rumored to be a commercial candidate. If he’s still in New York on Tuesday’s trade deadline, he can take advantage of a good match, at least in the PPR leagues.

To be honest, most of the guys with troubling pairings in the start-or-sit bubble are players who haven’t been as attractive this season. It won’t hurt anyone’s feelings to say that Dan Arnold (vs. Patriots), Jonu Smith (@ Panthers) and David Njoku / Austin Hooper (@ Bengals) are expected to be benched this week. Tyler Higbee (vs. Titans) is the toughest call, but his underwhelming résumé suggests you can survive without considering it.

WEEK 9 FANTASY: dormant | busts | Start them, sit down

Again, Washington is waiting, but if anyone has gotten impatient with Logan Thomas (hamstring) in your league, it’s worth picking up, as he should be back relatively soon. The same goes for George Kittle (calf), who is eligible to return this week, though he’s unlikely to be on the verge of giving up. Maybe consider it a business goal, though.
