Four African countries advance with the Eagles one point from entering the big names

Nigeria’s Super Eagles must avoid defeat in their last FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Cape Verde to secure a spot in the knockout stage.

Goals from the spot by Victor Osimhen and Ahmed Musa enabled Nigeria to win 2-0 against Liberia in Tangier on Saturday.

The result would have been enough, but Cape Verde came by one less goal to beat the Central African Republic in their game to leave qualifying on the final matchday.

Nigeria with 12 points in four games must avoid defeat against Cape Verde which has 10 points in as many games.

At the time of this report, four African countries have booked their knockout stage seats with one game to spare.

They are Morocco of group I, Senegal of group H, Egypt of group F and Mali of group E.

In Group A, Algeria must avoid defeat in the match against Burkina Faso to secure the ticket. At present, Algeria have 13 points in 5 games while Burkina Faso have 11 points in the same number of games.
In Group B, there is everything to fight for in the last group games as Tunisia, Equitorial Guinea and Zambia enter the last game of the group stage with the hope of leaving the group.
Tunisia hosting Zambia in its last game has 10 points while Chipolopolo has 7 points. Equitorial Guinea traveling to Mauritania has 10 points.
In Group C, the Super Eagles must avoid defeat to Cape Verde to reserve a place in the knockout stage.
In group D, Cameroon and Ivory Coast will compete for the spot in the direct elimination. Cameroon have 12 points in 5 games while Ivory Coast have 12 points in 4 games with the decisive matches being a trip to Ivory Coast in Cameroon.
In Group E, Mali moves on to the next stage with 13 points in 5 games
In group F, Egypt moved on to the knockout stage.
In Group G, South Africa must avoid defeat in the last group match against Ghana to secure their place. Bafana Bafana has 13 points in 5 games while Ghana have 10 in the same number of games.
In group H, Senegal with 13 points move on to the next round.
In Group I, Morocco is qualified
In Group J, West African neighbors Benin and Togo will play against each other for the ticked in that group, Benin with 10 points must avoid defeat in Togo (8) to secure a knockout spot.

After the group matches, the ten nations that finish top of their respective groups will be matched to the overall winners after a home and away match will secure tickets to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
