Fulham 2-2 Liverpool: Player Ratings – What the media and stats are saying – Liverpool FC

Liverpool were far from their best level when opening the first league campaign with a 2-2 draw in Fulhamwith Mo Salah one of the few to get out with credit.

It is rare, if ever, that Jurgen Klopp question the attitude of his side.

But after needing goals from Salah and Darwin Nunez to nullify two efforts from Aleksandar Mitrovic, taking a point from a newly promoted team, the manager did just that.

“In so many positions we didn’t reach our potential,” he assessed after the match.

So who had problems and who got a positive review in West London?

Here we compare our player ratings with those of the liverpool ecothe evening standardthe Yothe Mail, photomob and readers of This Is Anfield.

Tellingly, of those who started the game, the only player who averaged a rating of six out of 10 was Salah (7.3), who was central to turning the tide in the second half.

The 30-year-old put in the first goal of the equalizer for Núñez and then scored another to make it 2-2, with the liverpool ecoIan Doyle notes how he “became a threat once he was found” by his teammates.

For what it’s worth, although Núñez does not qualify for our ratings because he came off the bench, the Uruguayan would have received an average of 7.8 for his game-changing cameo.

luis diaz (6.0) was the next best of the starting eleven, the evening standardMalik Ouzia praised him as Liverpool’s “best attacking point” in the first half.

Unfortunately the lowest rating was Roberto Firmino (4.4), who had constant problems and, according to FotMob, only touched the ball 33 times in his 51 minutes on the pitch, without registering a shot on goal or creating an opportunity.

“[Firmino] he tried to get involved by pressing, but he barely made an impact before he was replaced,” was Doyle’s assessment of the no. 9.

It would come as no surprise if Firmino came off the touchline for Liverpool’s next home game against crystal Palace on August 15, with Núñez set to take his place within nine days.
