I am sure your readers will be relieved by the generosity of our government towards Afghan interpreters arriving in the UK, as detailed by Chris Philp, Minister of Justice and Immigration Compliance (Letters, 8 August).
I am the chairman of the trustees of a refugee welcoming group that is preparing to receive the families of Afghan interpreters in the near future. The funding package that comes with each family is much more generous than the funding offered for other refugees, until you see that Afghans will receive funding for four months. Four months, time in which they need to find work, learn English, set the children up in school, orient themselves in a local area, which is totally different from where they lived in Afghanistan, as well as start to feel safe and process their own. recent terrifying experiences.
