Gareth Bale’s career as a footballer has been the subject of uncertainty for quite some time. Various reports suggest that Bale could retire from club football at the end of the season, but will play Wales in the World Cup if he qualifies.
Bale scored eleven goals and assisted twice in the Premier League for Tottenham last season. In just twenty appearances he became one of the most important players on the team. However, his loan contract has expired and Bale is likely to return to Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane has never favored the Welshman and has barely had playing time under his tenure. With the departure of Zidane and the incorporation of former coach Carlo Ancelotti, Bale could be reintroduced into the Madrid team.
CLUB FOOTBALL RETIREMENT?
Bale has a permanent contract with Real Madrid until June 2022. His playing time does not justify his huge salary expense. Real Madrid have struggled to bear the financial burden surrounding Bale and therefore, to relieve some of the pressure, he was loaned out to Tottenham. The hierarchy and the Madrid fans would expect this situation to change sooner rather than later.
A transfer for a player currently making £ 600,000 per week is simply not feasible at the moment. No club in world football would be willing to invest in an aging player like Bale, who has had a history of injury problems. And so, amid all the speculation, rumors have arisen about the football player’s retirement.

Jonathan Barnett, Bale’s agent, has put aside any claims that the player will retire after the Euro despite many claims pointing to it. It was a magnificent performance from their captain that helped the team reach the round of 16.
“I will play for Wales until the day I stop playing football.” Bale when asked about his retirement.
Although Bale might live up to his words about playing for Wales, his club career may well come to an end. The player has reportedly been preparing to leave club football after his current contract with Real Madrid expires (source: Daily Mirror). The player has told his friends and advisers that he will not look for a club once he becomes a free agent. Therefore, Gareth Bale is likely to retire from club football.
THE LOVE FOR WALES
Gareth Bale’s attitude has dropped a lot since he arrived at Real Madrid. The winner of the Champions League no longer shows the attitude of his parent club. Cameras have often detected the player loitering even on the bench. This could be partly due to the fall with the coach, but Bale has shown no signs of wanting to regain his position. Rumors also suggest that he is also an outcast among the players.
Yet despite all the controversy surrounding him at his club, when Bale dons the national team jersey, he’s an entirely different beast. The once speedy winger who intimidated the Real Madrid full-backs comes to life for his national team. Charisma and passion are visible when Bale plays for Wales. Therefore, your comments about playing for your national team in the Qatar World Cup 2022 are sure to be followed.
Hard to take on Saturday. Unfortunately, we fell short, but I am proud of all the guys and the effort they have all put in over the last few weeks. Thank you very much for your support. We will be back and do our best to make the nation proud 🏴❤️ # TogetherSolid pic.twitter.com/3z2t2KjYdM

Even if Bale decides to retire from club football, it is highly unlikely that he will denounce his role in the national team. If Wales qualify for the World Cup and if Bale remains a free agent, things could get complicated for the Wales captain. The Qatar World Cup is delayed until winter as it is not possible to play in the harsh summer conditions. Temperatures usually exceed forty degrees Celsius during the summer in Qatar and thus it has been delayed until winter.
Therefore, Bale will have to stay in shape for at least four months without the help of a club. It is paramount that Bale maintains his physical form even if he retires from club football. They are currently struggling to qualify, but a strong finish in the Nations League should give them the upper hand. If they make it to the final, it will be their first appearance since 1958.
