Gigi Hadid asked the paparazzi to blur her daughter’s face in photographs.
The 26-year-old model, who has a daughter, Khai, with her boyfriend Zayn Malik, wrote an open letter to the press and fans asking her to protect the privacy of her 10-month-old.
She began her letter with the words: “Paparazzi, press and favorite fans.
“As our child grows up, we must understand that we cannot protect him from everything the way we wanted and could when she was smaller. She likes to see the world! And although she gets a lot of this from our farm, she can also go to other places – a real blessing. “
This happens after the toddler has begun to show interest in her surroundings, and although Gigi and Zane want Khai to explore the world, they want to protect her from the “media circus” of their fame.
Gigi continued, “During our last visits to New York, I began to want her [stroller] the sun visor lifted up (which she is used to at home) and helps herself with that! She does not understand why she is covered by the city and what I wanted to protect her from. I also want her to see the most amazing city in the world + beautiful and diverse people walking the streets of New York … that is, without the stress that accompanies the media circus that comes with parents who are public figures.
“I know the laws change state to state, and I’ve seen some pictures of paparazzi with kids in NYC with blurry faces – but after asking around, I think it all comes down to the honesty of the photographer, publications or fans. image exchange “.
Gigi then pleaded with the paparazzi and fans to let her child live a normal life away from the spotlight.
She asked, “I am writing all this to say: to the paparazzi, the press and our favorite fans, you know, we have never intentionally shared our daughter’s face on social media. We want her to be able to choose how to tell the world about herself. when she comes of age and can live as normal as possible, as in childhood, without worrying about a public image that she did not choose. It will mean the whole world to us as we take our daughter to see and explore New York and the world, PLEASE, PLEASE wipe her face out of the images if and when she is captured by the camera. “
However, she knows that “this is an extra effort,” but she hopes the press will do whatever it takes to protect the child.
Gigi explained, “I know this is an extra effort, but as a young mom I just want the best for my child, like all parents … and I hope this can continue the media conversation about protecting minors, even if they come. from a public family. “
She ended the open letter thanking those who already respected Kai’s privacy and kept their distance.
She captioned: “I would like to thank those paparazzi who were so respectful as I asked them to keep their distance while I walked with the stroller since my first trip to New York with Kai. I’ll see you and I appreciate it.
“As for the child, I can imagine that the near or dramatic madness of the paparazzi must be overwhelming and disorienting … the adult still understands this and often copes with it.
“I appreciate that you took the time to read this, and I hope you understand where I am from,” concluded Hadid. “With love, G.”
