This tournament has a very small history, the Global T20 Canada. And because they don’t have a clear window into international cricket and other T20 leagues, there haven’t been many players who have played the full two seasons of this tournament. Other than local Canadian cricketers, only a handful of players played in both seasons in 2018 and 2019.

Global T20 Canada 2023 returned with the third season of this league and with that, we began to dive into the many individual records in this competition thus far. The first season of 2018 was headlined by Lend Simmons who scored over 300 runs at a time when he was scoring runs in franchise leagues around the world. He was enjoying the twilight phase of his career and when the competition returned in 2019, a recently retired JP Duminy he was the next highest scorer, scoring 332 runs in his only season played in Canada.

Simmons, on the other hand, played both seasons of this tournament, although he was unavailable for Global T20 Canada 2023, which returned after a 4-year hiatus. Simmons is not listed in the GT20 Canada 2023 league, which means he won’t be at the top of the run scoring list for this tournament for long. Currently, he has 498 runs in 15 games and this includes a lot of openings and no conversions, but he only has 2 fifty in these games. Second-placed Rassie van der Dussen on the other hand, is 3 fifties in 13 games before the start of the 2013 season.

They are followed by a few more foreign players on this list of the top 10 run scorers in GT20 Canada, including West Indies’ Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton, United Arab Emirates’ Shaiman Anwar, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen and JP Duminy, Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat and Australia’s Chris Lynn. A lone Canadian to make this list is Rodrigo Thomas, who played only the 2019 season, but sparked 291 runs back then.

Anton Devcich, Andre Russell and Moises Henriques are three players who narrowly missed out on this list, finishing outside the top ten.
