‘Happy Days’ Star Anson Williams Will Run for Mayor of Ojai, California – Deadline

actor Anson Williams he hopes voters in Ojai, California, will tell him to “sit down.” The mayor’s chair, that is.

Williams, best known for her role as “Potsie Weber” on the classic television sitcom happy Dayshas announced that he is running for mayor in his hometown of Ojai.

Ojai is located about 80 miles northwest of Los Angeles in Ventura County. It has a population of less than 8,000 and is known for its boutique hotels, art galleries, and local organic farmers market. Chain stores are prohibited by city ordinance.

Williams announced her candidacy during an Ojai City Council meeting on June 28, according to Ojai Valley News. Williams spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting, saying the city needs “leadership that inspires a collaborative team.”

The candidate is 72 years old and would face current Ojai Mayor Betsy Stix, who is running for re-election. Williams can formally begin her campaign by filing documents beginning July 18. There is no indication of her affiliation with a political party.

Henry Winkler, who played “The Fonz” alongside Williams on the show, retweeted the ad and threw his support behind it. “You have my vote”.
