Razer has officially opened its new one S $ 100 million of South East Asian (SEA) locations in one-north last week.
The seven-story building features an iconic black facade with acid green lines running through the building, a tribute to the brand’s instantly recognizable aesthetic.
At night, the building literally lights up when illuminated with LED lighting strips in signature Razer green.
With an estimated area of 19,300 sq m, it is certainly a huge upgrade from the former two-story Razer office in the industrial area of Chai Chee.
When you enter immediately …
When you first walk through the glass doors of the building, you will be greeted by a huge LED screen displaying impressive graphics, which adds to the futuristic feel of the place.
On the left side of the first floor is the very first Razer Store in Singapore. It is also the only one in Southeast Asia and the sixth globally – other store locations include London, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Taipei and San Francisco.
The RazerStore sports an open concept, where visitors can get a firsthand look at Razer’s latest innovations and creations, as well as try out the full range of their products.
There are also many products available for sale, ranging from Sneki Snek plush, to custom Razer mouse, to Razer clothing.
However, it’s worth noting that visitors cannot make an in-store purchase. Only a click and collect option is available, which means you should first make your purchase online and then go to the store for collection.
Meanwhile, on the right side of the first floor is Razer’s very first F&B concept, RazerCafe, where you can have your robotic bartender prepare and serve your drinks.
At RazerCafe, guests can order (or pre-order) a drink at the store via the RazerCafe app or by ordering the kiosk. There are several drink options available and you can also customize your own coffee cup. The coffee beans come from PPP Coffee.
Once your order is ready, you will receive an in-app notification and can then proceed to pickup at a designated cubicle.
In keeping with Razer’s commitment to sustainability, every purchase at RazerCafe is carbon neutral, from seed to cup. All consumables (glasses, napkins, etc.) are made with recycled or recyclable materials; and its straws are plant-based too.
The RazerCafe is currently open on weekdays from 9am to 6pm, though they are planning to extend their opening hours to 24/7. After all, their bartender never needs to sleep. !
Where the hustle and bustle happens
Although the Razer building has seven stores, Razer occupies only the first four floors – the upper levels are leased to various tenants, including co-working company JustCo.
Razer’s offices in the United States, Germany and Singapore are already Great Place to Work certified and with the new SEA headquarters, Razer is ready to extend its offerings to be a place to do a great job.
The second, third and fourth floors of the building house the main workspace (photos are unfortunately not allowed), with countless meeting rooms, lounge areas, telephone booths and “hot desk” spaces scattered throughout.
Their walls are lined with patent certificates they have obtained over the years, as well as sporadic displays of their award-winning products.
Interestingly, their meeting rooms are all named after Razer products, such as Kraken, Black Widow, and Kiyo.
All meeting rooms are equipped with Razer chairs and BAMBOLOO – The Nurturing Co. brand of sustainable fabrics and antibacterial wipes. BAMBOOLOO received the first investment from Razer’s $ 50 million Green Fund.
Their largest meeting room is Boomslang, which can accommodate over 20 people. There are also padded seats flanking the windows, which is apparently a favorite seat of CEO Min-Liang Tan – he prefers to sit on the sidelines rather than take the center seat of the meeting room.
The room is so large that it has a dedicated pantry area to comfortably prepare a cup of coffee to keep you awake during long meetings, as well as a back room that allows you to answer urgent calls without leaving the meeting.
However, you might think that when a meeting room is too large, the meeting may be less productive (because you can’t hear or see the person on the other side). This is by no means the case with Razer with a sleek gadget that automatically zooms in on the speaker’s face and splashes it on the big screen.
When food meets fun
Each of the floors has a pantry area with plenty of room for dining, although they all look completely different.
The one on the fourth floor is lit with iconic Razer green lights, while the one on the third floor has a cozier café vibe (it even has a foosball table).
The one on the second floor probably has the nicest pantry. It extends into the Sky Garden (sadly it was raining when the Vulcan Post visited so we weren’t able to take good photos) and has multiple gaming amenities like a pool table and huge Xbox One game machine.
Fun fact: 802C refers to the color code of the characteristic Razer green!
Razer was offering its staff free lunches (mainly because the previous office was located in a remote industrial area), but with its current well-equipped pantries, Razer has eliminated that advantage.
The upside is that Razer now offers a selection of artisan breads for its breakfast staff.
There is a designated room right next to the pantry to host esports workshops and training sessions. The walls can also be moved to expand the pantry area, which doubles as a space for Razer to host corporate town hall sessions.
Do you want to join Razer?
Do you like what you have seen so far and hope this could be your future office? Good news, Razer is hiring aggressively in Singapore.
The gaming company is looking to bolster its current staff of 600 to 1,000 employees. currently there are 30+ job postings on Razer’s LinkedIn page, with available roles including product marketing, development manager, software engineer, data scientist, and social media specialist.
Although most of its employees work from home now, Razer strives to organize corporate bonding activities, the most recent of which is its virtual office-wide Halloween party.
Razer also often organizes gaming tournaments for its employees, reflecting the company’s mantra “work hard, play hard”.
