This is the beginning of a great friendship and collaboration between two distinct entities “.
Amit Sharma, director, Maidaan commented, “India has always been known to excel in the field of sport, be it cricket, football or even hockey, where India once dominated the sport for a long time. Our community is very passionate about the sport they play, and through this film our intention is to carry on the journey of a passionate sportsman, who grew up playing football in the Hyderabad maidaans and became a national icon and a model for millions. Our association with Hyderabad FC is an ideal fusion to push football to new heights and revive the legacy of football across our country. “
Akash Chawla, producer, said Maidaan “Sports and films are two of India’s favorite entertainment mediums. India has a rich history of sports in which; many unsung heroes have emerged. Unfortunately, many of them don’t get the limelight and appreciation they deserve. Even today, many of them do not know Shri Syed Abdul Rahim and his contribution to football in our nation. Through our film Maidaan, we aim to enlighten the country on its hard work and contribution in building a strong football legacy in the country. “
Arunava Joy Sengupta, producer, Maidaan said, “We have worked very hard to put this film together so that not only the people of our country but the whole world are aware of the victories India has had in a short amount of time immediately after gaining independence. Especially in the times when our nation was being born and growing, the passion for sport has created heroes that must be taken as inspiration not only in football but also in life. Our partnership with Hyderabad FC is also the same, it is unique and has the long-term goal of creating heroes for our country in the most popular sports in the world. “
