Many people love a good long kiss, as evidenced by the fact that today, July 6, an entire day is dedicated to the activity.
international kiss day It’s meant to celebrate how nice it is to lock lips with someone, but for many, not all types of kisses were created equal.
To mark the occasion, we caught up with some of those who prefer to keep their tongues very quiet…
‘So I don’t mind kissing, but I HATE making out.
“It’s the idea of all that saliva moving and going down your throat more than anything else.
‘I always used to think: ‘Have you brushed your teeth? Do they have bad breath? They could have food stuck somewhere. Did they have gum in their mouths? If so, will it end up in my mouth?
“Kissing someone like that was NEVER romantic for me.”
“I was very late for my first kiss, I was like 13 years old. I had the same boyfriend from when I was 11, and people used to pick on us for it. There was a lot of bullying on the playground for us just holding hands and stuff, and I was called frigid.
“I feel like I got cornered on my first kiss to get it over with, and it was kind of terrible.
“I know he was 13, and I’m still not mad at him or anything, but he was a terrible kisser.” He felt that he couldn’t tell him why he was bad, because he couldn’t articulate what he wanted, so he just avoided it.
“Basically, he would just slide his tongue down my throat before his lips touched me.” So I hated it for a long time, thinking, “If this is a kiss, I don’t want to be involved.”
‘But now, kissing a lot of people other than him has changed my mind. You can’t just start fucking, you have to move on and kissing is the best way to go.
‘But still really, Really I don’t like languages. I think it’s a texture issue.
‘I did not use to [like French kissing]. She used to throw up every time a tongue touched mine.
‘I can do it with my partner now, almost.
“I’m not sure what exactly changed, everything feels different. Maybe it’s just practice.
“However, sometimes it still feels like I have a slug touching my tongue.”
