Sony Pictures Animation SPIDER-MAN: IN THE SPIDER-VERSE the sequel is moving forward and THR has reported that another spider person will be joining the latest adventure of Shameik Moore (Miles Morales) and Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Gwen). The outlet revealed that Issa Rae (Unsafe) has joined the cast, and while nothing is official at the moment, THR sources say she will be playing Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman.

I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but the film ended up becoming a huge success in every respect, even taking home the award for Best Animated Film at the 2019 Oscars ceremony. Production on the sequel officially began last summer and was announced in April that Joaquim Dos Santos (The legend of Korra), Kemp Powers (soul) and Justin K. Thompson (Cloudy with a chance for meatballs) would be directing. “The team behind ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ set such a ridiculously high bar, and we are honored to take on the challenge of charting the next chapter in the Miles Morales story.“The management team said in a joint statement. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will return to serve as producers on the sequel, but will also join David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings) as screenwriters. Issa Rae is in the middle of filming the fifth and final season of Unsafe for HBO, and was last seen alongside Kumail Nanjiani on Netflix The lovebirds.
The Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse The sequel is slated for a October 7, 2022 launch.
