Royal Challengers Bangalore qualifies for IPL 2022 playoffs
Mumbai Indians again put on a spirited show of bowing led by Jasprit Bumrah (3/25 in 4 overs) to deny Delhi Capitals their place in the playoffs. RCB had 16 points while Delhi had 14 points and needed to win to qualify as both teams had similar net run rates.
For DC, Rovman Powell (43) and Rishab Pant (39) were the scorers as others failed to shoot due to an excellent opening spell from Bumrah. DC managed 159/7 in 20 overs, but that wasn’t enough to win. For Mumbai Ishan Kishan (48), Dewald Brewis (39) and Tim David (34) made sure they crossed the ropes comfortably. Mumbai ended up scoring 160/5 with an over to spare. This secured the qualification of Royals Challengers Bangalore.
