Lucknow Super Giants did the right thing by opting to pitch first in wet and sticky conditions as the chase would be easier. But they did not expect Rajat Patidar to blow them away with his first IPL century.

IPL Eliminator 2022: LSG vs RCB
The day clearly belonged to Rajat Patidar (112* off 54 balls) as he was in sublime form with the ball coming off his bat making the sweet sound of perfect contact. The drives, flicks and spinning sixes were a delight to watch. On a day when batsmen like Virat Kohli (25 off 24 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (37* off 23 balls) battled over time, Patidar’s hitting becomes more impressive.
RCB looted 85 runs off the last 30 balls for a massive total of 207/4. LSG’s fielding was also not up to scratch with a couple of missed catches – one from Dinesh Karthik which the captain failed to hold at the half and the other came from Patidar’s catch at the deep wicket half when on 79.
For Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul (79 off 58 balls) put up a good fight with support from Deepak Hooda (45 off 26 balls) but none of the other LSG batsmen could match the scoring rate.
In the end, Josh Hazelwood’s bowling (3 weeks for 45 runs) turned out to be what broke Lucknow’s heart.
