Dexter: New Blood, which debuted on Show time November 7, 2021, is a reboot of the network original Dexter series that ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013. The show, based on Jeff Lindsay’s Dreaming Darkly Dexter books, followed Dexter Morgan, a forensic technician at the Miami Metro Police Department, who lives a secret life as a serial killer killing other killers. Her younger sister is Debra Morgan, a Miami subway detective who is unaware of her older brother’s murderous ways until the end of the series.
Dexter: New Blood is a miniseries set 10 years after the original Dexter. The show follows Dexter and his life in Iron Lake, New York, where he lives under the name of Jim Lindsay, a local shopkeeper. The series also follows Dexter’s relationship with Angela Bishop, the Iron Lake police chief, and his struggle to suppress the “dark passenger” inside him and his urge to kill. In July 2021, news came that Jennifer Carpenter would resume his role as Debra in Dexter: New Blood, which led fans to wonder if Debra was alive. “[It would take] an amazing script in many, many, many years from now, “a The Hollywood reporter at the time. “I don’t know if it’s possible because people don’t come back from the dead.” So … Debra is alive in Dexter: New Blood? Read on to find out about her fate.
How did Debra die? Dexter?
Debra dies in Dexter series finale after she was killed by serial killer Oliver Saxton. In the episode before the finale, Dexter captures Saxton, but instead of killing him as he did with other serial killers, Dexter – who no longer wants to kill due to his relationship with Hannah – spares Oliver’s life and calls Debra, a detective for the Miami subway, to arrest him.
However, when Debra arrives at Saxton’s location, the plan was foiled when Max, a United States Federal Marshal investigating Hannah, follows Debra and interferes with the arrest. During the distraction, Saxton kills Max and shoots Debra before she escapes. In the finale, Debra is rushed to the hospital. When Dexter finds out that Saxton shot Debra, he rushes to the hospital, where the doctor tells him he hopes Debra will recover. At the hospital, Debra tells Dexter to live a happy, guilt-free life. Dexter leaves to look after Saxton, but when he returns to Debra’s hospital room, he finds that the room is empty. The doctor tells him that Debra’s condition worked and that she had a blood clot during the surgery that caused her to have a stroke, which left her in a vegetative state.
In the final scenes of the episode, Dexter, who blames himself for what happens to Debra, takes her life support away. He then takes his body into the sea and drops it into the water. The show ends with Dexter faking his death and living with a new identity in Oregon.
Is Debra Alive In? Dexter: New blood?
So..it is Debra alive in Dexter: New Blood? The answer is no. Debra is a hallucination that acts as Dexter’s voice of reason in a similar way to how his father, Harry, did in the original series. “I don’t think of her as a ghost [per se, but] more than a link or an echo or an uncomfortable truth for Dexter, “Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Debra, told a Television Critics Association panel in August 2021. “[She] return to persecute, punish, care for, provoke and love [him]. “
Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, added: “How long [Deb] he’s an internalized character for Dexter, I think [she] represents how far he fell … without a compass. I was so excited for Jennifer to do this because I knew she would be able to shape change and come to Dexter from so many different places. And, of course, it did. And it was really fun to open up our sense of [Dexter]’s interior landscape, because it is much more pyrotechnic and crazy than it used to be. “
In an interview with Weekly entertainment, Carpenter explained that it is more than a voice in Dexter’s head. “I don’t think it’s that simple. This is part of what those conversations were about. What good would it do for me to come back? “She said.” I thought the only reason to bring the show back was so we could see what would become of an unmedicated, uncontrolled, unpunished, decrypted serial killer. What would the Dark Passion passenger look like if he had unlimited access to this man? I wanted to return and persecute him, comfort him, console him, encourage him, love him, hate him and ruin him “.
She continued: “So, it’s such a hard thing to talk about because I’m not even sure how it happened. We never shot anything in order. It looks like this kind of closed season happened on a four-lane highway. [I] I just crashed down the highway, but I’m this weird, weird, ghostly kind of side road going somewhere completely different. It almost felt like the story existed on two campuses. We’re under the same University as Dexter, but I never had to keep track of what was going on the way the actors did. It was really about taking the temperature of the room in a visceral way and deciding how I wanted to manipulate it. “
He also revealed that it wasn’t until “much later” after the Dexter the finale aired in September 2013 where he had conversations about Debra’s return. “It seemed open enough that that possibility remained. But the conversations didn’t really start until much later, “he said.” I think the impression I got was that number one, Deb was dead and that Michael needed a moment away. So don’t it was never something that I actively took my temperature on unless the conversation was brought to me. “
He explained that the opportunity arose when he caught up with Showtime around May 2019 to discuss whether a Dexter rebooting with Debra was possible. “Michael and I have kept in touch and over the years and he has come up with what would seem like simple questions, but are actually very difficult. We should? We could? What would it be like? Would you like to do that? “She said.” Around May of 2019, it started getting quite real. I was in Los Angeles to do some printing and went to the Showtime offices to have a conversation about Deb’s involvement. “
He continued: “Some things I felt inspired to say on his behalf. I also just wanted to hear what it would be like. Dexter was around when cable TV was starting to raise the bar of what content could be. The fans have been so loyal and enthusiastic. So I wanted a few things on their behalf before I was ready to go back. “
