YoNot a great year for returning linebackers in the Pac-12. There is no other way to say it.

The way that new college football offenses spread out the position, and more and more defenses are using five DBs, is also becoming less and less important.

However, there are still some really good players in the conference slot going into 2023.

1. Dario Muasau, Senior, University of California at Los Angeles
Bruin LB Darius Muasau | UCLA athletics

METERUasau could have been the best linebacker in the conference last season and now he has one more run. It shouldn’t be a debate this year.

2. Karen Reid, Junior, Utah
Utah LI Karene Reid | Scott Stevens/247Sports

YoIf anyone can challenge Muasau for first place, it’s Reid. He’s everything you want in a linebacker, and Utah has a great track record of developing the best.

3. mason Cobb, Senior, USC

youThe All-Big 12 veteran is ready to be an All-Pac-12. Cobb should immediately improve USC’s defense.

4. shane lee, Senior, USC
USC LB Shane Lee | Ashley Landis/AP

TO A veteran already on the USC team, Lee racks up tackles and big plays. He is a defensive leader for the Trojans.

5. Levani Damuni, Senior, Utah

D.Amuni has been a standout at Stanford for years and ends his career in Utah, where he should be one of the best in the conference.

6. jackson Sirmon, Senior, California
Cal LB Jackson Sirmon | cal athletics

Sirmon has been in college a long time and has a lot of tackles. One of the best veterans at any position in the Pac-12 and a great piece returning to Cal’s defense for another year.

7. eric gentry, Junior, USC
Trojan LB Eric Genry | Los Angeles Times

TO crazy good long jock who had over 70 tackles, two sacks and one interception last year. Genry has great first-team All-Pac-12 potential.

8. jestin jacobs, Junior, Oregon
Oregon LB Jestin Jacobs | Charlie Neibergall/AP

youThe Iowa transfer brings a lot to the table if he can return healthy. Jacobs was great in 2021 and should bolster Oregon’s defense right away.

9. Jeffrey Bassa, Junior, Oregon
Oregon LB Jeffrey Bassa | oregon athletics

Bassa has quietly been a strong supporter for the Ducks over the past two years as a versatile hybrid athlete. He had more than 60 tackles last year and two sacks with two interceptions.

10 lander barton, Second year student, Utah
Lander Barton, Utah LB| Rick Bowmer/Daily Herald

youthere’s a chance Barton will be the best linebacker in the Conference come season’s end. Yeah, his potential is that high after a freshman season in which he had 46 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

eleven jacob manu, Second year student, Arizona
Arizona LB Jacob Manu | arizona athletics

EITHERone of the best rookie defensemen in the conference last year. Manu had plenty of tackles and should progress and help improve Arizona’s defense in 2023.

12 Edefuan Ulofoshio, Senior, Washington
Washington LI Edefuan Ulofoshio | Joe Robbins/Icon

youLofoshio was developing into one of the best linebackers in the Conference before injuries sidelined him for two years. He could be huge for the Huskies if he really gets fit and healthy.
