BBC Film has released an exciting trailer for the pandemic drama Together out of quarantine. Directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, Together focuses on a husband and wife (James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan) who are forced to reevaluate themselves and their relationship through the reality of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Originally aired in the UK on BBC Two on June 17, 2021, Together find the characters of McAvoy and Horgan monologue and breaking the fourth wall to deliver a comedy identifiable with heart. The film was shot over ten days at Kensal Rise, London, and was written by Dennis Kelly. In a statement, Horgan said that “Everyone who was involved in this movie had no intention of doing a COVID drama, but then we read Dennis Kelly’s script and changed our minds.”
The film also stars Samuel Logan as Artie, the couple’s 10-year-old son. Unfortunately for Artie, he is trapped inside with his parents and is aware of every snipe, fight, and frustration they share. Artie was not part of the original script, but was eventually included to create a connection between the characters and the audience. Hopefully, they will all come together as a family as they bear the wrath of the COVID-19 pandemic and emerge as a stronger unit on the other side of the crisis.
Together is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on August 27, 2021.
