Jane de Leon has finally started recording for “Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series” after numerous production delays on the show.
The moments of the first day of recording for the next series were shown by JRB Creative Production on his Twitter and the Instagram pages of today, November 15th.
De Leon can be seen speaking to show staff and co-director Avel Sunpongco at what appears to be a sound stage for ABS-CBN. Meanwhile, director Chito Roño was shown watching previews during filming.
De Leon will star in the ABS-CBN series adaptation of “Darna” alongside Joshua Garcia, Zaijian Jaranilla and Iza Calzado, among others.
Garcia will play the love interest of de Leon’s character Narda, while Jaranilla has been cast to play her sidekick and younger brother. Calzado will play Narda’s mother, the “first darna. “
The actress who will play Valentina, Darna’s nemesis in the original comic series, has yet to be named.
De Leon was the third actress exploited to play the Filipino superhero for this version of Darna. Angel Locsin, who played Darna on the GMA series in 2005, was supposed to reprise the role in 2014 for a movie. She left in 2015 for health reasons. Locsin was later replaced by Liza Soberano who later pulled back due to a finger injury.
The producers of “Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series” have not yet announced a date for the show’s premiere as of this writing. JB
