Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazi mourn the loss of their beloved dog Violet.
The couple took to Instagram on Friday (7/16/21) to pay tribute to their late dog, whom Steve adopted back in 2012 after she passed away “suddenly.”
Along with a series of photos of herself with Violet, 40-year-old Jenna wrote: “Our hearts are broken today as we mourn the sudden loss of our Violet May. Violet was the sweetest girl I have ever known, the most dexterous kissing girl in the world, and was always calm in the midst of chaos.
“Everyone who met you loved you, and this is one of the greatest privileges of my life to spend the last few years with you. The bond you shared with Steve is once in a lifetime and our entire family misses you without words. I am holding onto the owl we saw on our porch last night just after you passed, and this is a sign of your wise beautiful soul flying high. I love you, my sweet Wee Wee (sic) “
And Steve also posted a lengthy homage to Violet along with his photographs of his nearly ten-year-old friend.
He wrote: “Violet May Kazi 2012-2021.
“Knowing her meant loving her. She was more than my best friend to me. She was my savior. When I lost my mom, I really didn’t know how to survive. Violet came and at first sight we were kindred spirits. not the dog I chose, it was a black lab mix named Jesse who unfortunately didn’t come from a Mississippi shelter.
“When I was leaving the shelter, disappointed that the dog of my dreams did not come, I saw her. She sat in the middle of a bunch of siblings who were all going crazy like puppies usually do. Not she. She just looked at me. In my soul, as only Violet could. I knew it was her and we never looked back. (sic) “
Steve, 45, recalled the “adventures” he went through with his dog.
He added: “The years we spent together were full of adventure. Cross-country rides, beach days, endless hikes to Griffith Observatory, and lots of hugs.
“She has always been my true north. If you’ve ever met Violet, and many of you have met, you know what I mean. She was truly one of a kind. She helped me get through the most difficult times of my life. She was by my side during some of the best moments of my life. For many years there were only two of us. Then brothers and sisters came. Then the family appeared.
“With Jenna, Evie and Callum, she was as beautiful as I thought. Soft and gentle, always ready for a sneaky kiss right in the mouth. Without her, life will never be the same. Her passing was sudden and left us all in shock, but we focus on memories because they are some of the most precious to me. Violet was a good dog. (sic) “
