After the 2008 election, a flash of positive Republicans found in Barack ObamaThe victory was all the fodder his newly unveiled face created for conservative authors and publishers. The right-wing publishing machine accelerated throughout the Obama years, with experts such as Dinesh D’Souza, Michelle Malkin, Ben Shapiro, other Bill O’Reilly hit after hit writing directed at the Democratic president. But low Joe biden and the current Democratic administration, conservative publishers have to look elsewhere to find popular topics for their scathing books, as The Atlantic‘s McKay Coppins indicated in a dispatch Wednesday about the conservative media complex’s search for a “new bogeyman” to make up for Biden’s “relative boredom.”
Many of the upcoming and recent releases from right-wing editors are targeting the more abstract enemies of the Republican Party, such as “cancel culture,” “wake up,” antifa and COVID restrictions, as Coppins points out. These titles include Alex Berenson‘s Pandemic: How Coronavirus Hysteria Seized Our Government, Rights and Lives; Ben shapiro‘s The Authoritarian Moment: How the Left Armed America’s Institutions Against Dissidence; other David horowitz‘s The Enemy Within: How a Totalitarian Movement Is Destroying America–– a book that includes the Democrats most hated by conservatives on the cover, such as Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, other Bernie Sanders. Notably absent: Joe Biden. As one conservative editor explained to The Atlantic “In the past, it was like taking candy from a baby to write a book about the Democratic president,” but now “no one tries.”
By comparison, Horowitz’s first anti-Obama book, titled Barack Obama’s Rules for Revolution: The Alinsky Model, Released in 2009, it featured a picture of the 44th president draped in red alongside Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin and Saul Alinsky. (It stands to reason that Obama’s face found its way onto so many popular conservative headline covers because he was the first black president, so portraying him in the most threatening way possible would surely draw the attention of the target audience.) The roots of Obama’s anger, Obama can be seen looking at the reader with a veil behind a blood red filter. During the 2016 elections, Hillary clinton became the right bogeyman book cover. But for now, Biden has gotten rid of the sinister treatment of the book’s cover. It seems that the conservative base perception of Biden as America’s baffled grandfather is one of the reasons for this. Eric Nelson, the executive editor of HarperCollins’ conservative upright Broadside Books, commented to The Atlantic that Fox News viewers don’t believe “that Joe Biden is in charge of the country,” adding: “If someone came to me and said, ‘I have a book about Biden’s secret plan to destroy America,’ I’d ask him. : ‘How many times does the word nap appear in the index? ‘”
Instead, conservative authors are more interested in tackling left-wing political agendas, such as the Green New Deal, even though the ruling Democratic Party will almost certainly not entertain them. Conservative radio host Mark Levinthe next book, titled American Marxism, I want to highlight “How today’s progressives, who have overtaken liberals in setting the agenda of the American left, have used cultural Marxism” to divide America, while also informing readers about “the widespread brainwashing of the students, the anti-American purposes of critical race theory and the Green New Deal “, according to its editor.
Another hurdle that conservative publishers will have to overcome in the years to come is the fact that Donald Trump, who spent the last four years as the most wanted book promoter, is no longer on Twitter to sign and promote upcoming titles all the way to the bestseller lists. You don’t even have a blog.
