Netflix’s unique superhero drama Jupiter’s legacy topped Nielsen’s broadcast rankings in the US from May 10-16.
The eight episodes of the show racked up just over a billion total viewing minutes, easily surpassing Start up, whose three seasons yielded 760 million viewing minutes.
Nielsen measures only the viewing on a television screen of shows from Netflix, Hulu, Disney + and Amazon Prime Video, with a delay of nearly a month per agreement with streaming services.
Last week, News Block exclusively reported that Netflix will turn Mark Millar’s property into a universe spanning an anthology franchise. The streaming giant set up a live-action adaptation of Super thieves, which will explore the history of the supervillains of Millarworld, as the next installment of the Jupiter’s legacy saga.
Netflix Launches Branded Products Site, Exploring New Revenue Frontier
Netflix bought Millarworld in 2017 in the company’s first acquisition.
Coming to the bottom of Nielsen’s list, The woman in the window drew 500 million viewing minutes, bordering The Mitchells Vs. The Machines, which had 495 million. Mitchells, produced by Sony Pictures Animation, won the previous Nielsen Weekly Run.
Woman, starring Amy Adams, had been planned as a 2019 Twentieth Century Fox release, but was delayed due to low test scores and then pushed again due to Covid-19. It was eventually sold to Netflix.
